Rhode Island Releases Full Timeline For COVID-19 Vaccination Eligibility

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WBZ NewsRadio) — Rhode Island Department of Public Health Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott announced the full timeline for Rhode Island's COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Thursday.

Alexander-Scott said the state was able to release the timeline because had received "assurances from the federal government," that the vaccine supply would increase.

The state will progressively open age ranges for eligibility. Residents ages 50-59 will become eligible on April 5, while ages 40-49 will become eligible on April 12.

The remaining ages, 16-39, will be eligible to get a vaccine in Rhode Island by April 19.

Alexander-Scott said most will residents who become eligible for a vaccine will be able to get an appointment within a week or two.
