SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — First taking office in 2006, Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll announced her candidacy for the Commonwealth's Lieutenant Governor 2022 election on Tuesday.
Driscoll joined four other Democratic candidates in the race: Sens. Adam Hinds and Eric Lesser, Rep. Tami Gouveia, and businessman Bret Bero. After the primary, the winner of the lieutenant governor Democratic nominee will join the party's gubernatorial nominee in running for 2022.

Driscoll won reelection as Salem mayor last fall, elected to a fifth four-year term.
"Mayors like me have been on the frontlines of our most urgent fights – from COVID-19 response and recovery to racial equity, the climate crisis, strengthening our public schools, and making housing more affordable," Driscoll said in her campaign announcement video.
