BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Most are familiar with the viral videos of Nusret Gökçe that became Internet memes—however, they probably know him better as "Salt Bae."
"Salt Bae" was a pseudonym for the viral star, who has created a recognizable technique for salting food.
Now, Salt Bae is headed to our city, according to Eater Boston. The publication reported on a series of clues from the meme-star's Instagram story.
"Salt Bae was inside the former Nahita space last night...[his Instagram story] shows him outside of the restaurant around 2 a.m. last night and then opening the door and walking through the unmistakable...space," the Eater article said.
This wouldn't be Salt Bae's first venture into the restaurant business. His restaurant chain 'Nusr-et' has locations in New York and Dubai.
He's not everybody's bae, though.
After he served Venezuelan President Nicholás Maduro at his restaurant in Istanbul, Business Insider reported multiple 'Nusr-et' locations' ratings plummeted due to negative online reviews.
Back in August, Salt Bae was met with critical reception after serves at his Miami 'Nusr-et' location joined a collective action lawsuit alleging that he was tip pooling and not compensating his workers with minimum wage or overtime.
He also sparked controversy in Miami after posting a picture dressed as the dead Cuban dictator Fidel Castro with the caption "they say you too started a revolution."
