Shark Fin Sightings Reported At Duxbury Beach

DUXBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Cape Cod beach was temporarily closed on Sunday, after police reported two unconfirmed sightings of shark fins in the ocean.

At around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Duxbury Beach Operations reported the first unconfirmed sighting of a fin "off the pedestrian walk on resident beach."

By 12 p.m., DPD had reported the second unconfirmed fin sighting "off the second crossover."

Swimmers were ordered out of the water for at least an hour.

Update: According to DPD Beach Operations, visitors were allowed back in the water to swim at their own risk shortly before 1 p.m.
