BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The remnants of Hurricane Laura is expected to bring rain, thunderstorms and possible hail to parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Boston, showers and embedded isolated thunderstorms are possible across interior Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
NWS Boston said the storms could bring damaging straight-line winds up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail, minor street flooding, and a low risk for a tornado.
Hurricane Laura swept through Louisiana Thursday with 150 mph winds, killing six people and leaving widespread damage and power outages in its wake. The Atlantic hurricane season usually stretches from around August 20 through early October, peaking in early September.
