Suspect Arrested In Fatal Stolen Car Incident In Hull

BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Police have arrested one man in connection to an overnight incident in Hull that left one person dead.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said Friday that the driver of a stolen vehicle, 40-year-old Karl Sault of Hull was arrested after he allegedly fled on foot after the crashing into a pole on Rockaway Avenue.

This happened just after 10:00 p.m. Thursday night when Hull Police received a call about a vehicle that was stolen from an autobody shop on Nantasket Avenue.

Shortly after, an officer in the area spotted a vehicle that matched the same description going in the opposite direction of his cruiser and went after the alleged stolen vehicle.

After the vehicle crashed, the officer called for emergency assistance for the passenger of the stolen vehicle. Police said the passenger, identified as 52-year-old Michael Peters of Hull, died at the scene.

Sault was later found at a nearby address on Avalon Drive and is facing charges of Domestic Assault and Battery, Breaking and Entering and Intimidation of a Witness. He is set to be arraigned on Monday in Hingham District Court.

The officer involved in the incident was not injured but Hull Police said they were taken a local hospital for medical attention. The officer has also been placed on paid leave. More information on the investigation will be provided when it is available.
