Suspect Charged In String Of Waltham Assaults

WALTHAM (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police have charged a man in a string of attacks in Waltham last November.

State prosecutors said they believe Clauvens Janvier of Waltham is responsible for the 11 random attacks across the city last fall.

The victims were all stuck with blunt objects and sometimes seriously injured, with some losing consciousness and needing to be hospitalized.

All of the victims were male, and the attacks were unprovoked.

Janvier is being charged with 14 counts of assault and battery, in total, among other charges.

Before today's announcement, Janviers had already been charged in December with three counts of assault and battery stemming from one of the attacks in November. Janvier allegedly assaulted a man in a parking garage with the blunt side of a machete, in that incident.

The Waltham man has also been hit with gun charges, for allegedly firing a gun at a car as it left a Willow Street gas station late last November.

Janvier is expected to be arraigned in Waltham District Court on these charges — his next court date is on March 24.
