Tewksbury Police Investigate Snowplow Crash Into Pedestrian

TEWKSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Tewksbury said they are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Friday night.

According to officials, the Tewksbury Police Department responded to the area of 360 Main Street at around 9:18 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

Police said that investigation showed that the victim was walking along the side of the roadway when they were struck by a privately-owned snowplow. The TPD said that the snowplow was not plowing at the time of the incident.

The pedestrian was treated on-scene by first responders and taken to a local hospital, and later transported to a Boston hospital via medical helicopter for further treatment, officials said.

The TPD said they are investigating the incident along with the office of the Middlesex District Attorney, a standard practice in serious pedestrian crashes, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

Police did not release the identity of the victim at the time of posting.
