PEMBROKE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — With summer in full swing, it's a season of change over at a popular treehouse bar nestled in Pembroke, as new owners take the reins and announce their big plans for the wooded venue.

David and Tori Barry are the new owners of the old Lucky Dawg Tavern & Grille on Mattakeesett Street, though they told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe that they have renamed the restaurant and bar to be the "Towne Tavern & Treehouse," a spin on their bar in Attleboro named "Towne Tavern & Tap."

But it's more than just a name change for the treehouse bar in Pembroke, as the Barrys' work remove old decorations, signs, and fixtures inside the two-story bar built among the trees. David says one of the new additions will include a fifty-foot boat dock soon.

"Anybody that lives out on the water or takes their boat out on this little pond can actually drive right up, dock, and walk right into the restaurant. There'll be picnic tables, boards to play cornhole and different fun outdoor activities, and down in back we'll have a dog-friendly area," David said.

The restaurant's extensive outdoor dining area overlooks the nearby Furnace Pond, with the inside building capable of hosting plenty of guests.

"It accommodates a hundred people in the treehouse, we have the front restaurant itself, outdoor patio— it's just a beautiful ambience. The water views, the eclectic atmosphere, and the treehouse, a literal treehouse, up in the sky," David said.
