NEEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A house caught fire and a worker was injured while working on a gas line in Needham Saturday, officials said.

The Needham Fire Department said the two-alarm fire broke out at a home on Prince Street around 8 a.m. Police and fire units arrived on scene to battle the blaze and secure the area.

Fire Chief Thomas Conroy said no residents were inside the home when the fire broke out.

The State Fire Marshal's Office said the injured worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Eversource, a contractor crew was performing planned natural gas work at the home at the time. This was an isolated incident, no other structures in the area were affected, and the area is safe, Eversource said.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
