Patriots Training Camp, 2008, Begins
The defending AFC champion New England Patriots are back at work, trying to erase the memory of the disappointing end to their otherwise perfect 2007 season.
Coach Bill Belichick said he's treating this camp no different than any other, despite the Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.
Bruins Obtain Forward Martin St. Pierre
The Boston Bruins have swapped forwards with the Chicago Blackhawks, getting Martin St. Pierre in exchange for Pascal Pelletier.
The trade was announced Thursday.
Sox Complete Seattle Sweep
Mike Lowell hit a two-run single off Sean Green in the 12th inning, and the Red Sox took advantage of two outfield errors to beat the lowly Mariners 6-3 on Wednesday and complete Boston's first series sweep at Seattle in 15 years.
Wideman Signs Multi-Year Deal
The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Dennis Wideman to a multiyear contract extension.

Wideman had career bests last season with 13 goals and 23 assists in 81 games. He was the No. 2 scoring defenseman to captain Zdeno Chara and sixth overall on the team.

Bruins Get Offensive in Draft
The Bruins went looking for offense in this year's NHL draft.
After selecting high-scoring Joe Colborne of the Camrose Kodiaks in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with their first pick on Friday night, Boston selected four more front-line players and a goalie on Saturday.
No Ordinary Joe
The Bruins say they got an offensive boost when they took center Joe Colborne with their first pick in the NHL draft.
They also say they got lucky.
General manager Peter Chiarelli said the team had Colborne rated in their Top 10, but he fell to the Bruins, who had the 16th overall pick.
