WBZ Sports Profile with Tom Cuddy
Sabrina Salmela, Beverly High School
Sabrina Salmela is a tennis player at Beverly High School, which is akin to saying Jonathan Papelbon is a relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.
The 17-year old senior-to-be is the queen of her court. Just ask the opponents she has left in her dust.
Kylene Pease, Ashland High School
Kylene Pease plays softball for Ashland High School.  The 17-year old plays the hot corner for the greatest Division-2 girls' softball team in Massachusetts history.
Kylene and company went through the season unblemished, experiencing only the thrill of victory.
Liam Anastasia-Murphy, Gloucester High School
Liam Anastasia-Murphy is a graduating senior at Gloucester High School. Liam is a runner. Indoors, Outdoors, Cross-country - you name it, Liam runs it.
Liam has excelled in numerous disciplines, but his approach to racing is much like a ballplayer's approach to a season.
Erin Griffin, Briscoe Middle School
Erin Griffin is 14 years old and enjoys playing softball and skiing down mountains. In fact, the Brisco Middle Schooler is such a good skier that she teaches skiing at a nearby mountain.
Heady accomplishments and something her parents may not have expected when doctors informed them of the condition that, then, 10-month old Erin was afflicted with.
Nate Koneski, Dighton-Rehobeth Regional H.S.
Nate Koneski is a senior at Dighton-Rehobeth Regional H.S. and is a pitcher on the baseball team.

The 18-year old started playing baseball at the age of 5 and his 13 years of practice have paid off handsomely for the lefthanded starter.
Tim Welch, Portsmouth H.S., Portsmouth, NH
Undefeated and win a championship?

Sorry, we aren't familiar with that story line. But Tim Welch is. Tim is a pitcher on the Portsmouth, NH High School team.  The senior, in his final year with the Clippers, defines perfection.
Lindsay Felix, Foxboro High School
Lindsay Felix  is headed to Merrimack College in the Fall. She leaves behind a career in lacrosse and field hockey at Foxboro High School.
The 17-year old can look back on a career in the latter sport that started with no knowledge of the game to being named All-League.
Alex Skinner, Brooks School, North Andover
Alex Skinner is an 18-year old senior at the Brooks School in North Andover. Alex is headed to Boston College in the fall and don't be surprised if this young man becomes a lawyer, and a good one.

Kelsey Karys, Newton South H.S.
Kelsey Karys is a junior at Newton South High School where she is a member of the track team.
Initially, Kelsey joined the team to stay in shape for basketball but the 17-year old distance runner has discovered that track can and has taken her places she never imagined possible.
Jen Lowery, Apponequet H.S.
Jen Lowery is a senior at Apponequet H.S. in Lakeville where she is a member of the softball team. Jen made it quite clear as a freshman that she had no desire to be a pitcher.
Well, maybe she didn't make it quite as clear as she thought. Much to the chagrin of her opponents.
Anna Driscoll, Marblehead High School
Anna Driscoll is freshman at Marblehead High School where she plays basketball on the girls basketball team. The 15-year old also enjoys her time on the roster of the Marblehead Pipers, a new AAU team named in honor of Marblehead High's Sgt. Christopher Piper, who died in Afghanistan.

Addie Chase-McCann, Perkins School for the Blind
Addie Chase-McCann is a tenth grader at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown.
Addie is visually impaired, having limited sight. But what this 17-year old envisions is as crystal clear as any athlete with a dream.
Denzel Brito, Lawrence Academy
Denzel Brito is a 16-year old at Lawrence Academy. The sophomore is a point guard on the basketball team and every time he hits the floor, Denzel needs to bring his 'A' game.

The 17-year old loves soccer and track and while her closest friends hail from the former, her highest accolades are the result of the latter.
Evan Smotrycz, Reading High School

The 16-year old plays hoop for Reading and is a hot commodity among college recruiters. That's what happens when you are 6'8" with ball handling skills.
Nick Schwieger, Bishop Feehan High School, Attleboro
Nick Schwieger is a three sports participant at Biship Feehan. Nick is a member of the track, basketball and football teams, the latter clearly his best and his favorite sport.

Anthony Melchionda, Thayer Academy, Braintree
Anthony Melchionda of Thayer Academy in Braintree earned All-League and All-Scholastic honors in both football and baseball, but the legacy the 5'11" senior is paving for himself comes not from a baseball diamond or grid iron.

Gabe Frieden, Commonwealth School
Gabe Frieden is a senior at the Commonwealth School. Gabe is the king of his castle, so to speak.
The 18-year old senior's game requires immense concentration and the ability to play out his contest in his head, before it happens. One mistakeand Gabe is left to pick up the pieces.
Kelly Meredith, Franklin High School
Kelly Meredith is a senior at Franklin High School. The Panthers' all-time leading scorer has enjoyed untold success on the basketball court since the 6th grade. But it is the lasting memory of one unsuccessful game that stays with the 17-year old as lasting motivation.
Peter Kinchley, Swampscott High School
Peter Kinchley is a senior at Swampscott High School. For all of his success with the Big Blue baseball  and football  teams (a Super Bowl title in 2007), the 18-year old's accomplishments in the classroom are even more impressive.
Josh Lyvers, The Bromfield School
Josh Lyvers has been playing soccer since he was five years old, playing almost all positions along the way.
As he learned the game, he discovered the farther he got from his own goal and the closer he got to his opponent's goal, the better he liked the game and the thrill of sudden victory.
Lauren Brodeur, Wilbraham & Monson Academy
When Lauren Brodeur was much younger than her current 18 years of age, she opted to be her soccer team's goaltender because it meant there would be less running.
Little did Lauren, or anybody for that matter, know that her decision would result in a lot less scoring for the opposition.
Christen Hart, St. Mary's High School, Lynn
Christen Hart had seen the state hockey trophies earned by her two older brothers Neil and Nick as members of the Saugus H.S. hockey squad in 2003 and 2004.
Wouldn't it be cool, the 18-year old senior thought, to add one of my own to the shelf. Heck, why stop at one trophy?

Mike Condon, Belmont Hill High School
Mike Condon is a 17-year old at Belmont Hill High School where he is the goaltender on the hockey team.

Brenna McLoughlin, Nauset Regional High School
Brenna McLoughlin is a sophomore at Nauset Regional High School in North Eastham.   The sport that 16-year old Brenna competes in is a sports she has been involved in for half of her life.

Mike McPherson, Mansfield High School
Mike McPherson is a senior at Mansfield High School. Mike plays basketball, baseball and football but added a fourth sport as a junior: track and field.

Dyamond Gardner, Malden High School
Dyamond Gardner is a 14 year old freshman at Malden High School, where she is the starting point guard for the Malden girls basketball team.
It is somewhat unusual for a freshman to be the starting point guard on any high school team but then, Dyamond's training is a tad unusual, too.
Emily Lovell, Tyngsboro High School
Emily Lovell is a 15 year old freshman at Tyngsboro High School. Don't let that fool you into thinking that Emily is the shy and retiring type.
Her teammates will be the first to tell you that Emily displays toughness and perseverance beyond her years. Her teammates, by the way, would be the rest of the boys wrestling team.
Katie Wah, Arlington High School
Katie Wah is a triple threat at Arlington High School, where she takes part in swimming, track and soccer.

Breanna Comeau, Amesbury High School
Breanna Comeau is a senior guard/forward on the Amesbury girls basketball team.

Anna Grant, Exeter H.S., Exeter, NH
