BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Parts of the MBTA Red Line are closed May 2 through May 10 because of track work as the T continues to tackle speed restrictions and make improvements.
Shuttle buses are replacing service between Park Street and JFK/UMass during the day. And through May 9, shuttle bus service will run to Ashmont after 8:30 p.m. each night.
This comes a day after the MBTA announced that it had eliminated speed restrictions on the Blue Line, which parts had been closed since April for track work.

“We’ve demonstrated [with these closures], that we can do more than we’ve done before,” said Eng.
The T has said that there are less than 100 slow zones across the system for the first time in over a year, and that they are hoping to get that number down to zero by year’s end. Eng feels that this is a goal that is very attainable.
