BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Marstons Mills man pleaded guilty on several child pornography charges on Wednesday. The man, Steven Carme, had previously been indicted on the charges in February 2019.

Investigators said the man downloaded and distributed numerous photos and videos of child porn during a two-year period between 2017 and 2019. A police search of Carme's house turned up a laptop and an external hard drive — The external hard drive contained more than 7,800 photos and more than 600 videos of child pornography.

When he was interviewed by police, prosecutors said Carme admitted that the laptop and hard drive were his, and also said he had been downloading and distributing the images and video.

He faces three charges: distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and a third charge of possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.

All three charges carry a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, and up to a sentence of 20 years. A fine of up to a quarter-million dollars and a lifetime of supervised release are also possible. He's scheduled for sentencing in federal court on March 8, 2022.
