Ipswich’s Big “Dam” Fight

There is an ongoing dispute in Ipswich, MA over a proposal to remove a centuries-old dam in the center of town. Lawn signs reading “Save Our Dam” and “Free The River” have spread across the town of 13,000 people. Eric Krathwohl of the Save Our Dam community group and Neil Shea of the Ipswich River Watershed Association come on NightSide to debate this issue.

Can I Speak to a Human, Please?!

While AI chatbots are taking over customer service, a majority of us would rather wait and speak to a human being. A Callvu survey found that if given the choice between a human or a bot, an overwhelming 81% said they would wait at least some amount of time to talk with a live agent. Furthermore, in a head-to-head comparison, live agents were perceived to be better suited to perform 7 out of 10 critical customer service tasks. Richard Weylman, a customer service expert, joined us to discuss.

Continuing from the previous hour, Dan introduced the 12th day of former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial. The judge presiding over the case threatened to jail Trump for violating his gag order for a 10th time. Trump was fined $1,000 for claiming in an interview that the jury was mostly Democrats and that it was picked too quickly. Should the judge jail Trump and make an example out of him?

Israel Rejects Hamas Ceasefire

As pushes for a cease-fire continue, Hamas said it accepted a cease-fire proposal with Israel, however Israel said the deal was "far from" its requirements. Ahead of a planned attack on Hamas, Israel urged Palestinians civilians to leave the city of Rafah, a southern city in Gaza, and flee to the coastal town of Al-Mawasi, where humanitarian aid would be offered.
